DAAAAAAAAAVE!!!!!

Ask anyone… I’ve always said that one of the things I missed the most from when I worked at GJ Photo / Look Matters was Dave. Dave is probably the nicest guy in Canada… He always has his shit together… and in the 3 years I’ve known him, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him get upset. After I left GJ/LM, Dave filled in my role as lead photographer.

Last week, Dave resigned as Lead Photographer and will be moving to Calgary with his family to set up his own business. But until then I have brought him on to my staff to help out. It feels like old times again around here and I couldn’t be happier now that I have Dave at my side again! (even if its only temporary). …My goal now is to convince Dave that he shouldn’t move and that he should stay here. But I have a feeling he’s all ready made his decision.

Good to have you back buddy! ….PLEASE STAY!

2011/2012 Roughrider Cheerleader Calendar

Well kids… It’s that time of year again! I was given the opportunity once again to photograph the Saskatchewan Roughrider Cheer team for their annual calendar.

This year, we decided to go in a bit of an opposite direction compared to last years shoot(s). We still wanted to keep it fitness orientated, but give it a much more minimalist and cleaner feeling.

This 3 day shoot took place in my old studio, and was actually the very last shoot I did at that location.

iPhone snaps

I wasn’t able to sleep the other night and had the idea to post a collection of images all taken and edited on my iPhone. I would have done it that night but I had forgotten my laptop at the studio. Most of these images were taken in the past couple of months so you may or may not have seen some of these all ready.

NEW STUDIO!!!!! …and Roomie!

I’ve been holding off on making this announcement for quite some time! But that’s only because it still feels to good to be true and I wanted to make sure that all the details were finalized before I shared it with the world.

But first… I just want to give a HUGE shout out and BIG THANK YOU to Jaco & his crew at SquareFlo.com for taking me in and helping me out while I was getting on my feet. Fifteen months ago I moved into their building, and right from the start they made me feel like part of their family. But as awesome as the SquareFlo gang is, I have outgrown the space there. After searching high and low for months I finally found the perfect new space to call home.

I’m ecstatic to announce that on June 1st 2011 we will be moving into our new 2100 square foot space in Regina’s Old Warehouse District . Complete with…

The Modern Pin-Up

I’ve just received word that “The Modern Pin-Up: A Collection Of Photographs” is now available and ready to ship! This is a beautiful hardbound, high quality, 240 page coffee-table book full of tantalizing photographs of modern pin-ups. It is a unique publication, the first devoted to the subject, with page after page showcasing the best work in the genre from around the world (including mine ).

Over a year ago I was contacted by the publisher about using an image from a series of pin-up photos I had taken for a friend (Gina). With Gina’s blessing I accepted!

Say hello to my new summer intern :)

corley_web Meet Corley, she’s a bright creative soul who’s finishing up her last year of school at Medicine Hat College, and has decided to spend her final summer internship working for me. (Mwahaha). Last year she spent her internship at my old stomping grounds at GJ Photo, I kept an eye on her and all of the great work she was doing during her time there, so I jumped at the opportunity when I was asked to take her onboard.

There’s not a doubt in my mind that Corley will be great asset to my company this summer. I have a lot respect for the program she is graduating from as I have worked closely with many of their alumni, and have been amazed at their talent.

Welcome aboard Corley!

Happy anniversary to me!!!

Today marks the 1 year anniversary of going into business for my self and what a year it was. In the beginning it was a bit rough, there were some extreme highs, very lows and few tears along the way. But after a few months, things just started to work out, and I knew I would be ok. I couldn’t have ever done it without the love and support of all my family and friends. I also would’t be here today if it wasn’t for all of my clients of 2010 who took a chance with me, a BIG thanks to them! I enjoyed working on every single project and can’t wait to see what opportunities await me in 2011! Thanks everyone!!!

Class Five Snowboards Web Photos

I know what your thinking… ”Whoa Kiriako, 2 blog posts in ONE DAY!!!” …I know, its crazy! But that’s how I roll.

Anyways… The boy’s over at Class Five Snowboards were looking for a mixture of some colour & monochrome images of their crew for their 2010/2011 website. They wanted the photos to be fun and relaxed, as as show some character… Check em’ out.
